Food Intolerance Testing
Food Intolerance Testing
Food intolerance and sensitivities are becoming so much more common these days as food production methods change and the variety and quality of the foods we eat gradually reduces.
Food intolerances and sensitivities are different to food allergies. Food allergies can make you seriously ill, whereas symptoms of food intolerance may be either quite subtle or more obvious, such as:
- fatigue or reduced energy levels, from feeling below par to exhaustion much of the time
- preventing you losing weight; causing too much weight loss or weight fluctuation
- digestive bloating, loose stools, digestive discomfort, nausea, vomiting or IBS
- diarrhoea, constipation, Crohn's, ulceralitve colitis, coeliac, stomach or duodenal ulcers
- unexplained aches and pains such as back pain or aching muscles, joint pain and rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis
- headaches and migraines
- sinus and respiratory problems such as rhinitis, hay fever-type symptoms, stuffy or runny nose, asthma or difficulty breathing.
- oedema, bed wetting or frequent urination
- eczema, itchy skin, frequent mouth ulcers
- facial puffiness, discolouration around the eyes - "panda" eyes, itchy or puffy eyes
- depression or anxiety, feeling spacy
- susceptibility to frequent infections, intolerance to alcohol, insomnia, hyperactivity
- and much more
There are a few types of food intolerance testing kits offered on the market however, I prefer to work directly with the body, using muscle testing. This way, the energy flowing through the body can be measured and any "problem" foods ascertained immediately.
A simple programme of exclusion of these foods for a short while is recommended to allow the body to rebalance. Quite often, these foods can be reintroduced at a later stage, without a detrimental effect on the body.
At the Total Balance Clinic in Aberdeen, we recommend at least one body balancing treatment of Kore Therapy prior to any food intolerance testing, to highlight any other causes of imbalance and ensure an accurate picture is obtained.
